Splits an argument string into its arguments.

Parameters

text string

The text after the command word.

Returns

IReadOnlyList<string>

The arguments in order; empty for null or blank text.

Remarks

Arguments are separated by white space. Single or double quotes keep white space inside one argument, and a backslash takes the next character literally.

Exceptions

FormatException

A quote is opened and never closed.
